Who am I?

I'm Desirae! Here's some fun facts about me:

• Grew up in NW Connecticut
• Moved to the NEK of Vermont in 2018
• I love food (especially ones that are carb heavy)
• I love to bake and cook
• I'm renovating my house all by myself and am slowly turning my yard into a flower field
• Commonly collect vintage clothes, strange antiques and art, and random vinyls I find at thrift stores
• I started film photography, including developing my own film
• I'll never tell you my age without you guessing first
• I am really bad with directions, GPS is required

Why am I closing for 2027?

I started photography over 10 years ago because of my love of art and it quickly snowballed into a full blown business. Along this decade long ride I have also continued to work in and build my career in manufacturing, which I started at the age of 14 (yes, really!). Because of the current rising costs of owning a one-woman business, the costs rising for all wedding vendors... which translates directly to couples, and the want to not have to raise my prices a significant amount to continue doing this, I have been toying with the idea of stepping away for a while. I started announcing to my couples at the beginning of the year that I will be planning to close at the end of 2026. The rest of this year has solidified this decision for me. I lost two of my pets to old age, started a new job, turned 30, and realized that working through most of my weekends and editing on almost all of my weeknights after working a full time job has taken me away from experiencing my own life. I saw so much of New England through my 20s - because of weddings. I have never really traveled away from the east coast, never been out of the country, and haven't gotten to explore or enjoy the towns I have to go to. This doesn't go without also saying, I won't forget the experiences I have gotten from photographing weddings over the past 10 years. I am so beyond grateful for all the art I was able to create, the many laughs, tears of joy, and getting to be a part of some of the most important days and moments of people's lives. I have also gotten witness SO MUCH love between couples, their families, and their friends. I will be closed for at least 2027 to spend time doing whatever I want on weekends, create different art, eat lots of food, try new hobbies... and maybe relax, just a little.
